Know About Water Borne Diseases- Symptoms and Prevention

In impoverished nations where access to clean water and decent living conditions is only a dream, water-borne diseases are widespread. Simply said, germs like viruses and bacteria that enter the body through polluted water or through contact with feces are what cause water-borne disorders.



The most common water-borne illnesses are listed here, along with what may be done to prevent them.

1. Typhoid: It spreads by tainted food, water, and unsanitary conditions. Since typhoid is so contagious, it must be treated right away. Typhoid fever symptoms include:

Pain in the muscles Fever that increases gradually Diarrhea or constipation Extreme fatigue and sweating


Prevention:

Avoid consuming unbottled or unsealed water when in an area with low sanitation.

Eat nothing from street food vendors because they don't follow hygienic procedures.

Contact your healthcare practitioner to schedule a typhoid vaccination if you are susceptible to the disease.


2. Dysentery:

It spreads primarily due to poor hygiene. Dysentery is caused by bacteria, parasites, and viruses that are present in unclean food and water. Dysentery signs and symptoms include:

Pain and cramping in the stomach Nausea and vomiting Dehydration Fever


Prevention:

At regular intervals, thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.

Food purchased from street vendors should be avoided, especially fruit that has been pre-cut for a long time.

Only consume sealed, bottled water.


3. Cholera:

Cholera is primarily spread by contaminated water, and it can be lethal within hours of exposure to the germs. Cholera symptoms include the following:

Diarrhea Nausea and vomiting Cramping in muscles


Prevention:

Regularly wash your hands with soap and water.

Don't consume any raw or undercooked food.

Consume bottled water and fruits that you have peeled yourself.


4. E.coli:

There are numerous strains of the E. coli bacteria, some of which are beneficial while others are deadly. Animal manure is a source of bacteria on farms where food is cultivated for human consumption. E. coli symptoms include:

Fever Nausea and vomiting Dehydration Stomach cramps


Prevention:

Drinking water from sources that can be contaminated is not recommended.

Make sure to thoroughly wash all of your produce.

Use a decent antibacterial soap and water to often wash your hands.


5. Giardia:

This infection can spread through polluted water and is primarily brought on by a parasite. Once a person has been exposed to the parasite, giardia can develop intestinal difficulties that continue for years. Giardia symptoms include the following:

Pain and cramps in the stomach Nausea Diarrhea Bloating Weight loss


Prevention:

Regularly wash your hands in clean water and soap.

Avoid gulping down water as you swim.
