During a total knee replacement (TKR) procedure, artificial implants are used to replace any damaged knee joint parts. DO’S:

Ice cubes: In order to control pain and edoema following total knee replacement surgery, icing is really helpful. You will receive instructions from your knee surgeon on the timing and duration of ice after the operation.


Activate your knee: During the recuperation period, it's crucial to continue extending your knee throughout the day. DON’TS:

Take it easy on yourself: You shouldn't perform all the physical therapy-recommended exercise all at once. In order to reduce your risk of knee discomfort and inflammation, you should spread out your daily exercise plan.


Do not stoop to one knee: Even while bending your knee while sitting may seem the most comfortable, it is not advised throughout the healing process. Insufficient stretching might result in the growth of scar tissue and leave knee discomfort for a long time.


Don't take part in risky activities: You might feel the urge to handle all of your daily chores on your own after TKR. However, it's crucial that you only engage in activities that are secure for you. It can be difficult to deal with limited mobility, but it's important to be patient and pay attention to your doctor.


Don't disregard assistive technology: Avoiding assistance equipment may result in a limp or uneven gait that is difficult to cure. So, heed the advice of your physician and physical therapist and utilise assistance equipment up until it is suggested that you walk without them.


Do not postpone TKR: The rest of your body may suffer if you put off TKR. It is important to visit a skilled orthopaedic specialist before developing a severe case of knee debilitation since bone degradation cannot be stopped.
